Be witnesses of Christ and Gospel values in all areas of personal, family and public life, in the diverse reality of the Middle East, where the Church's presence of the Church exists with difficult. Msgr. Nicola Eterovic, secretary general of the Synod of Bishops, said this today as he presented the outline of the Special Synod of Bishops on the Middle East to the Vatican Press Office. The synod will be held at the Vatican from October 10th to 24th, 2010. The three-chapter document presents the characteristics of life and the Christian testimony in the region. Particularly on the issue of relations with the Islamic world, the text stresses the importance of dialogue as the best means to resolve problems. Furthermore, Christians must never cease to bring the message of reconciliation based on mutual forgiveness- which is primarily the result of the Holy Spirit and not merely of human efforts. In that Spirit, it will be possible, far from political and religious extremism, toe open to the process of building a new humanity. Therefore, noted Msgr. Eterovic, the testimony of Christians living as the leaven of a renewed society, remains essential for the present and future of the Middle East.
