On Friday evening in St. Peter's Basilica, the body of Blessed Pope Innocent XI was transferred from the space below the altar of the Chapel of St. Sebastian to a specially prepared space under the altar of the Transfiguration, which lies to the left of the nave. The Chapel of St. Sebastian, which has been completed restored with a new lighting and sound system, is now prepared to welcome the Body of Blessed John Paul II, which will be place under the altar of the chapel after his beatification. The casket of Pope Innocent XI was moved in a religious procession to the altar of the Transfiguration, and the ceremony was concluded with a prayer and blessing from the celebrant and the reading and signing of the official act attesting the transfer took place.
