The social responsibility of the company was the theme of Benedict XVI’s speech to officials from Acea, the public power and water company in Rome. The Pope said that the production of goods and services should not only be tied to the pursuit of economic profit, but also to the promotion of the common good.
Benedict XVI thanked Acea for providing light to Rome and to the Vatican, and welcomed the work undertaken to promote human ecology and reduce the environmental impact of our development models. The Pope praised Acea’s Code of Ethics, which calls on the principles of accountability, transparency, fairness, collaboration and the spirit of service.
