Preparations have begun at the Catholic University of Notre Dame in the United States for a conference on the Synod on the Word of God, organized by the American Bible Society. The conference, called “Camino a Emaús” (the Road to Emmaus), will concentrate on elucidating what the role of the Word of God is in the life of Latino Catholics.
The American Bible Society has already held many conferences straight from its headquarters, located in the heart of New York City. Among its participants has been Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops on the Word of God, Mario Paredes, director of the American Bible Society´s relations with the Catholic Church, and Sr. Joan Curtin, a member of the administrative counselors of this worldwide association that makes the Bible better-known.
When the preparatory interviews were finished, Archbishop Eterovic visited a small museum inside the Association’s headquarters, where Dutch Biblical images can be found from the 16th century, the first ever in history. The conference on the Word of God will begin this up-coming Thursday in the Cushaw Center for the Study of American Catholicism.
