A Rosary with Africa and for Africa
06/10/2009 (1:33)
Marking the Second Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops, which is underway in Rome from October 4th through 25th, a Marian vigil, titled ¨A Rosary with Africa and for Africa¨, will be held on Saturday, October 10th, in the Paul VI Hall. During the vigil, Benedict XVI will pray the rosary with university students.

Monsignor Lorenzo Leuzzi, director of the Office for University Pastoral Care of the Vicariate of Rome, invites all young people to participate:

“It is very special to be able to be with the Holy Father. I would therefore like to invite all university students and Italians who are in Rome to come and join us in the Paul VI Hall in order to share this moment with us. I believe it will be the first time that the Pope will pray the rosary with university students for a very specific intention: that communion may be truly created with African students. And so I would like to invite all young university students to come join us, together with Pope Benedict XVI, and give witness to the fact that the Gospel is truly capable of uniting cultures and, above all, of guiding the construction of the common good.”

There will be students joining this major event via satellite link from nine African cities: Cairo, Egypt; Nairobi, Kenya; Khartoum, Sudan; Antananarivo, Madagascar; Johannesburg, South Africa; Onitsha, Nigeria; Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; Maputo, Mozambique; and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
