Pope: Human relations inspired by communion of love
25/11/2009 (0:58)

"What would the world be like if human relationships were inspired by the model of communion in the Trinity, in which each of the three divine persons lives not only with each other, but for each other and in the other." In this way, Benedict XVI concluded the catechesis for today's general audience in Paul VI Hall, before 7,000 faithful.

Presenting the two theologians Hugh and Richard of St. Victor, who lived and taught in the twelfth century in the same Abbey in Paris, the pope quoted one of Richard's passages, saying "in the life of the Trinity, diversity comes together in unity where all is mutuality and joy. " The Holy Father then stressed Hugh's theological view of history, which "is not the result of blind fate or random chance, but on the contrary, in it, the Holy Spirit is operating. In this way, the surprising and saving intervention of God is emphasized. Benedict XVI concluded, "while always preserving the freedom and responsibility of man."
