"The radio as a means to promote the development of the whole person." That was the theme of a webinar on December 10 sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Communication (or CICS) at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.The meeting was attended by experts, teachers and students of the training program, taking part in an online CICS course for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as recipients of scholarships awarded by the Italian Bishops' Conference.The discussions focused on the recommendations of the concluding document of the Fifth General Conference of Latin American Bishops, held in Aparecida in 2007. It especially concerned the communication ministry, training and permanent mission of the communicators. The proceedings were opened by the new director of CICS, Father Agustine Savarimuthu SI, and they were moderated by the coordinator of the CICS online, Ary Waldir Ramos Díaz.Several contributions were offered by teachers and experts, such as Father Guillermo Ortiz, SI, head of promoting Latin America of Vatican Radio in Rome, Father David Gutierrez, director of Vatican Radio's Spanish section, Gerardo Lombardi, president of the Latin American Association of Radiophonic Education (ALER), and Jose Nelson Mármol, director in Ecuador of the World Catholic Association for Communications (SIGNIS).http://www.unigre.it/struttura_didattica/cics/index.php http://www.seminariovirtual.org/
